Long time Truetone vet Dave Jenkins is known as a gear guru here, and a master of musical knowledge, and a great bassist out on the town. So back in 2013 when a killer bass landed at Truetone, he snagged it for himself, modded it, and put it to good use. He also made it a go-to bass for others when they needed one. Now, it’s available on the market.
Of course, you may just be thinking that you want a bass that literally sets the standard of what a great bass is. If so, here’s this Fender American Standard Jazz Bass in Black from 2013, with upgrades!
This version of the Fender American Standard Jazz brings you a slew of upgraded features with even more personal after market upgrades that make this an incredible bass. You still get the iconic double-cut contoured resonant alder body. The bolt-on maple neck comes with a comfy modern neck profile with a rosewood fingerboard with medium jumbo frets and sleek satin finish. The bass has extra support and stability from its Posiflex graphite neck support rods. Stay in tune and tune easily with its lightweight vintage-style tuners.
The main upgrade on this one has to do with sound. Hear the low end with great presence and articulation with its pair of Aguilar AG 4J-60 pickups. Build with period correct components, this set offers the warm, punchy and articulate Jazz bass tones that players have been in love with since the 60’s. Utilizing Alnico V magnets and our proprietary winding pattern, these pickups have improved string-to-string consistency, clarity, and articulation. Simply put, these are some of the best sound Jazz bass pickups out there.
You can easily find your favorite tones with its simple setup with a volume for each pickup and master tone control. You get the best transfer of resonance, tone, and support from its high-mass bridge that lets you choose string-through or top loading.
To customize the look, the pickguard has been replaced with a stylish black pickguard and a thumb rest has been added for additional comfort. If you want to go back to the original parchment pickguard, it’s included in the case. Speaking of which, the original hardshell case is included too.
You cannot go wrong with this upgraded Fender American Standard Jazz Bass. Its in very good condition, and has been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop. It’s ready to get out there again!
