The Fender American Ultra Series Stratocaster HSS rolled out in 2019 as a guitar designed for players who want the most advanced, highest-performance Strat ever made. An exclusive version was made, featuring a stunning Denim Burst finish over a AA flame maple top, painted headstock with silver Fender logo, and a smooth, striped ebony fingerboard. This is one of those, modified to look even cooler (didn’t think that was possible, but apparently it is!).
This instrument is from the personal collection of the late Brad Pie who played guitar in the 1990s with the great Johnny Otis. Along with Johnnys sons – Shuggie Otis (Guitar) and Nicky Otis (Drums) – Brad contributed guitar to the 1992 Grammy-Nominated Spirits of the Black Territory Bands by the Johnny Otis & His Orchestra group. Many of the instruments from Brads collection are uniquely modified and come with various customized accessories. This particular instrument comes with the following:
The guitar has been upgraded with custom Tone Knobs – all else is original, including the case. Inside, you’ll find the original tone knobs and tremolo arm, as well as a nice brown leather strap, blue Ernie Ball cable, a clip-on tuner, and the Certificate of Authenticity.
The guitar features fifth-generation Noiseless pickups, Fender’s amazing Double Tap humbucker, advanced electronics, tapered heel and body contours, an upgraded neck shape and rolled-edge ebony fingerboard with a compound 10 -14″ radius.
Players graviated towards the neck’s modern-D profile. Its flatter than a standard-D, with a faster back and a little more meat on the shoulders. Fender created an all-new process to apply a thin coat of satin urethane, giving the neck a completely smooth, raw wood feel. Your hands wont stick here.
The guitar was built in 2021, is in excellent condition, and has been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop. An American Ultra Strat is a nice score in general and this is the only one out there that looks like this!
