Well… What we have here is a true piece of Finnish rock & roll history. We are proud to present the famous “Roadrunner” Stratocaster that belonged to one of the greatest guitar players ever – Albert Jrvinen.

This mythical instrument has been in the shadows for last decades and now it is on the market to find a new home to be played and preserved the way these should be held.

Here is the background story of the guitar by Leif Kiviharju, the man who built it to Jrvinen (you can find the original COA in Finnish in the pictures):

ROADRUNNER GUITAR CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITYPekka “Albert” Jrvinen’s guitarIn 1972, I purchased various guitar parts from the insurance company Pohjola, which the company had salvaged from damaged instruments. From these parts, I assembled what became known as the Roadrunner Stratocaster. The body is a Sunburst-colored Fender Stratocaster manufactured in the 60s, in which the original neck was beyond repair – among other things, the entire headstock was missing. The neck is from a 1971 Fender Telecaster, whose body had been completely destroyed after being run over by a car. The neck frets were also so damaged that I had to install new ones. Since I only happened to have wider frets intended for bass guitar, I had to install those on the guitar. This combination turned out to be extremely resonant and easy to play as a whole. The guitar’s neck attachment plate has serial number 252627.I myself was playing at Jimi Hendrix’s concert, where the band First performed as the opening act, at the Culture House in Helsinki in the summer of 1967. While packing up our equipment after the concert, I found a volume knob that had come off from Jimi’s Stratocaster on the stage. I kept the knob and didn’t think much more about it. When I was assembling the Roadrunner guitar, it was missing a volume knob, so I installed Jimi’s knob that I had found.Later, at Pekka “Albert” Jrvinen’s request, various microphones and wiring were changed in the guitar several times before the final version was found. This particular guitar is pictured on the cover of the Hurriganes’ Roadrunner album, from which it also got its name.Helsinki, 16.12.2015Leif KiviharjuGuitar comes with Fender hard shell case, COA, photo book and various documentation.Notice: The guitar is NOT at our Tuusula shop.
