Dreams in the Dusk, B.J. Brooks Concert Band Grade 3

This highly expressive band work was first dreamed by the composer as a choral work of the same name, using the words of the poem “Dreams in the Dusk” by Carl Sandburg. It had its wind ensemble premiere in 2016 by the Spanish Fort High School Band in Spanish Fort, Alabama, conducted by TrippMorris. This lyric work uses textural scoring that showcases each section of the wind band. With sonorous brass melodies, moving low woodwind textures, andmemorable melody, this composition evokes the contemplative nature of dreams.
