Once again my hubris brought me here. The Bass Amp Grinder is a ground up reinterpretation of the classic Rat distortion. Making homages is new for us but our customers have been asking for something like this for a while now. I normally refuse to give the people what they want but here we are. Strange times indeed.

So what is special about the Bass Amp Grinder? Let’s find out.

• The DISTORT circuit is redesigned for lower noise and a more usable range with bass guitar, using a bandwidth-limited modern precision op-amp to match the performance of a classic op-amp design.
• The custom FILTER circuit is a 2-pole variable low-pass filter, allowing more treble attack with less unwanted noise.
• The VOLUME control adjusts the Grinder’s distorted output only.
• The CLEAN control is a parallel low-pass clean signal inspired by contoured filtering and modern studio parallel processing; it is not a traditional blend or mix control.
