A New Parlor Shape
Bedell’s signature 12-fret is actually a new shape for parlor guitars. The lower bout is both wider and longer than traditional parlors, giving the instrument more air volume – and therefore more sound. As a 12-fret to the body design, the bridge is placed right in the center of the lower bout, enhancing the modal dynamics to deliver more efficient and pronounced sound.
Wood Notes
An Adirondack top delivers volume and clarity without distortion, even with heavy picking. Adirondack spruce is relatively heavy, with a high velocity of sound, and it has the highest stiffness of all acoustic top woods.
The maple of the body and sides for this instrument is sourced from (approximately) century-old bigleaf maple trees. Quilted maple is popular for it’s looks, but is comparatively rare geographically, being sourced primarily from the bigleaf maples of the Pacific Northwest U.S. and Canada.
