From the first Mk I prototype to the modern boutique reissues, the Tonebender sound has been a beloved choice for guitar and bass players alike, thanks to its rich, bass-boosting fuzz.

Legend has it that back in 1965, in a small room at a guitar shop in Denmark Street, technician Gary Hurst was challenged to create a fuzzbox with even more sustain. The end result? The Mk I Tonebender, which quickly gained popularity among many famous guitarists of the era.

In 1973, Sola Sound in London revamped the well-established Tonebender Fuzz, basing the circuit on the Big Muff but leaving out the first set of clipping diodes. The outcome was a fuzz that stayed true to the Tonebender, but added some low balls to the sound.
