A History of Quality and Innovation
Marcus Bonna was a horn player in the So Paulo State Symphony Orchestra from 1982 to 2002. After suffering an accident in 1990 that seriously injured his back, he designed a new case for himself. This case was lighter, more compact, and featured a brand new design to facilitate the transportation of his instrument, as the cases available on the market were too big and heavy. To his surprise, the case was so successful among his orchestra colleagues that, in a short time, these same colleagues had new cases made in fiberglass by Marcus Bonna himself.
In 1991, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra had a performance in So Paulo. When the horn players from this orchestra saw the new horn case model, they were very impressed and interested in acquiring one. As a result, to start fulfilling orders both in Brazil and abroad, the MB company was founded in 1991. Today, the company has 45 employees at its headquarters in Bragana Paulista, 80 km from So Paulo.
In addition to the production and management sections, the company also has a canteen, a playroom, and an auditorium with a grand piano for classes and chamber music. MB exports about 480 cases a month to more than 25 countries. All the cases and mutes are handmade. The case models are exclusive, with some protected by patents, and all are designed and developed by Marcus Bonna himself.
These cases are highly customizable and aimed to provide the best protection possible, please give our Band Sales Department a call at: (301) 946-8808 for more information and to make sure we are getting you set up with the correct case.
