Here we have a 1983 Gibson Les Paul Custom that has been converted to Stoptail from a Kahler. The guitar features dual Tim Shaw humbuckers and sounds great!

Beneath the Nashville bridge you can see the silhouette of the Kahler route. The route has been filled and the top has been oversprayed in black. A Nashville bridge was added to the guitar. There are filled holes behind the nut on the face of the headstock where the Kahler locking nut was removed.

Beyond this conversion, the guitar appears original and in goodshape. The original frets show some light divots, nothing dramatic, and they functionjust fine. The strap buttons have been changed to Schallers. The electronics, plastic covers, and knobs all look correct. The built-in winder tuning machines are original as well.

The guitar weighs 10lbs 3oz. The neck measures .795 at the 1st and 1.000 at the 12th. It’s a fairly modern C neck that stays slim most of the way up, but does fatten around 10th heading into the heel. The neck is 3 pieces, but there is no volute.

This one rips, and sounds especially good through a high gain amp. It’s slinky, resonant, and easy to navigate. It’s exactly what you’d like to hear from an early 80s Custom.

Ships in a modern TKL hardshell case.
