The National Resophonic Style 1 Tricone shares many of its’ features with the original National Tricone created by the Dopyera brothers in the late 1920’s!

When John Dopyera invented the original National Tricone in 1927, he was seeking a louder guitar with internal amplification but he was also adamant that the tone of the guitar be absolutely clear. John proudly proclaimed, “The Tricone guitar flowed like a river,” and in the companys early advertisements, the guitar was hailed as “The Greatest Musical Sensation of the Age”!

Now, nearly a hundred years later, Tricones are still revered by musicians everywhere for that special sound. Just like the originals, the new Style 1 Tricone is built with a brass body and cover plate the same alloy used by Dopyera. But this isnt just any Tricone; this is a baritone, allowing you to explore even deeper, more powerful, and clearer tones!

The mahogany neck is finished in a rich, warm burst and features an ivoroid-bound ebony fretboard. The vintage-style tuning machines operate on the classic slotted headstock, topped with the famous National shield. An early National advertisement from 1927 praised the tone, power, and sound quality of the Tricone, and the new reissues proudly continue that tradition.

Tri-cone resonator guitars, as the name suggests, have three cones within the body of the guitar. These cones are arranged in a triangular formation and are made of brass. Tri-cone resonator guitars produce a more complex sound than single cone guitars, offering a warmer, rounder tone. If youre searching for a more intricate and nuanced resonator guitar sound, a tri-cone resonator is exactly what youre looking for! It comes with a case and a TFOA passport.
