Introduced in the late 1970s, the M-36 was C. F. Martin & Co.s take on a large bodied acoustic that combined the depth and projection of a dreadnought with the more comfortable outline of a 000. The result is a balanced and versatile guitar with impressive volume and clarity while remaining comfortable to play.

This 1978 Martin M-36 is an early example of the model and features the distinctive three piece East Indian rosewood back paired with a solid Sitka spruce top. The body shape, sometimes referred to as the 0000 size, offers a wide tonal range with strong bass response, clear mids and a bright, articulate top end.

The guitar features a mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard, traditional dot inlays and a comfortable playing profile. Other typical appointments include white binding, a multi stripe rosette and a rosewood bridge.

This guitar is in very good condition, with some signs of play wear and lacquer checking to the top and back of the body, although these are very minimal. It is internally and externally original and free of any repairs, and retains its original Martin case.

As with all our vintage instruments, this 1978 M-36 has been given a full service and appraisal by the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
